Creative Producer Specialist Consultant Position at British Council in Kampala, Uganda

The British Council in Uganda is seeking a Creative Producer Specialist Consultant to deliver the Creative Economy Week in Kampala. This role is an exceptional opportunity for a professional with a strong background in arts and culture, particularly within the Ugandan context, and experience in creative program management.

About the Role:

The Consultant will be responsible for delivering a series of activities for the Creative Economy Week, focusing on increasing the profile of British Council programs and partner organizations in fashion, film, visual arts, and other creative sectors. This will involve organizing public events, online streaming, panel discussions, policy roundtables, and networking opportunities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working in partnership with the Uganda arts team for the launch of the Creative Economy Week.
  • Supporting the development of a marketing strategy for the week.
  • Managing stakeholder relations and organizing market access opportunities.
  • Curating an online campaign and organizing physical networking events.
  • Coordinating speakers and participants for discussions and roundtables.
  • Managing event logistics, including venue booking, catering, online event management, and participant registration.
  • Handling vendor and speaker payments and managing event M&E and reporting.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Understanding of the arts and culture scene in Uganda.
  • Professional experience in creative program management.
  • Expertise in event and program management, including financial and resource management.
  • Ability to engage with young people, particularly in digital contexts.
  • Knowledge of cultural and creative industries in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to identify potential speakers.
  • Proficiency in English.

Desirable:

  • Strong understanding of creative and cultural industries.
  • Established network in the Ugandan arts scene.
  • Experience working with the fashion sector in Uganda.

Consultancy Duration:

  • January 2024 to June 2025.
