About US:

Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre (UWEC) evolved from an animal orphanage set up by the Game Department in 1952 as a sanctuary to care for; the sick, injured, orphaned wild animals, sometimes confiscated from illegal wildlife trade. In 1994, under the Trustees Incorporation Act Cap 147, UWEC replaced the Entebbe Zoo, and has been transformed into a fully-fledged statutory body under the Ministry of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities by the UWEC Act, 2015. The UWEC ACT 2015 mandates UWEC to; undertake Conservation Education, wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and breeding of endangered animal species among others.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Develop a business growth strategy for UWEC
  • Design and develop income generating programs for UWEC.
  • Ensure growth and development of existing businesses at UWEC
  • Organize and manage special events at UWEC
  • Provide information for website, social media and other media plat forms.
  • Build and manage relationships with donors, corporations, foundations and Government.
  • Coordinate with other functional heads on matters of business development.
  • Manage the tracking and recognition of contributions made to UWEC.
  • Participate in proposal writing for fundraising activities.
  • Prepare monthly reports on business development activities.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Economic Policy and planning
  • Certificate in Project Planning and Management will be an added advantage.
  • At least three years’ experience in a similar facility and service Centre or Private sector
