The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) is the Leader of Government Business in Parliament and responsible for the coordination and implementation of Government Policies across Ministries, Departments and other Public Institutions.
Job Summary: The Refugee Status Interviewing Officer will interview, capture and prepare individual asylum seekers’ country of origin profile data and information.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To keep abreast with relevant country of origin information as well as procedures for Refugee status determination.
- Conducting comprehensive interviews for asylum seekers and assess their situation.
- Identification of people with special needs and reporting such cases to a protection officer.
- Compiling and organizing of asylum seekers’ interview records.
- Perform any other official duties assigned by senior management.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Conversancy with current country of origin information as well as procedures for Refugee status determination.
- Existence of accurate comprehensive asylum seekers’ interview records.
- Timely conduction of interviews for asylum seekers according to their respective dates of appointments.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a University Degree in Law or Political science or Social Science or Development Studies or Social Work and Social Administration.
- Diploma/ training certificate in International Law (added advantage).
- At least two years of experience in a related field.
- Computer skills (Microsoft Packages)
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Vast knowledge of International Refugee Principles, Protection, standards as well as policies.
- Team work.
- Ability and willingness to work in Refugee settlement areas (Remote Areas).
- Ability to work under pressure and minimal supervision.
- Good communication skills.
- Proper time management.
- Result oriented and self-drive/ motivation.
- Languages Requirements: English, Swahili, French
- Age: 23 – 45 years
