The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development worldwide through volunteerism. UNV integrates qualified, motivated, and well-supported UN Volunteers into development programming, promoting the value and recognition of volunteerism globally. Administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UNV reports to the UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS Executive Board.
About UNODC:
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is a global leader in combating illicit drugs and international crime. Established in 1997 through a merger between the United Nations Drug Control Programme and the Centre for International Crime Prevention, UNODC operates globally through an extensive network of field offices.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Programme Manager, the UN Volunteer will:
- Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programme activities in Uganda.
- Support needs assessment, programming, and technical missions.
- Organize various technical assistance activities.
- Ensure close coordination among co-implementing and associated programme partners.
- Contribute to the preparation of progress reports on project implementation.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
This assignment is funded by the Government of France, and the following specific criteria apply:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Law, political science, social science, international relations, or related field.
- Only French nationals are eligible to apply.
- Candidates must be between 22 and 26 years of age.
- Master II certificate with 6 months to 3 years of experience.
- Fluency in English.
- Experience in Rule of Law, justice and accountability, Countering transnational organized crime, Countering Terrorism, and Prevention/countering of Violent Extremism is appreciated.
- Previous volunteer experience or experience of another culture is highly regarded.
