IOL PPDE (Pre-Primary) Registration
Registration
Registration takes place throughout the year. However, students who enrol before 01 February of each year, write their first exam in June of the same year. Students who enrol before 01 July of each year write their first exam in November of the same year.
Semesters are structured as follows:
1) 1 December -> end April
2) 1 May -> end November
Please indicate on the registration form, which examination centres/venues (from the list provided) you wish to write examinations at. The first examination opportunity depends on when the registration is finalized. Make sure you select the mother tongue of your choice by ticking the appropriate box on the application.
Admission Requirements
After registration is approved at IOL Head Office, you should receive your study materials within three (3) weeks. Please contact the Head Office if you haven’t received your materials within this time slot. Compare the study materials you receive with the check list

To qualify for admission to the ‘Diploma in Pre-Primary Education’ an applicant shall satisfy any one of the following minimum requirements (a) OR (b):
- (a) The admission to a Diploma requires a score of 22 points in the 5 best school subjects. The following will be taken into consideration when computing the point scores according to the grade evaluation table further on:
- Be a holder of a Namibian Senior Secondary Certificate (NSSC) ordinary or recognised equivalent with a minimum of 22 points in five subjects according to an admission scale.
- One of the five subjects must be English NSSC Ordinary (English as a Second Language) obtained with a grade C minimum or English as First language with grade D
- A second one of the five best subjects must be NSSC Ordinary Mathematics obtained with grade D
- It is recommended that another one of the five best subjects is a Mother Tongue or
- Standard 10 Senior Secondary School Certificate
OR
- (b) Meet the requirements of mature age entry which means:
- A student should be at least 25 years old on the day of registration
- Should have completed successfully junior secondary education (Standard 8 or Grade 10)
- Has at least 2 years of relevant teaching experience
- Has a ‘letter of recommendation’ from a management member of the school where h/she was teaching to identify the suitability of a candidate as a teacher
- Pass oral and written tests relevant to being a teacher on a 50% level
- General admission regulations that apply to both the above admission options:
- Places will be awarded on the basis of merit in the case of over subscription.
- IOL reserves the right to conduct further admission tests such as interviews or aptitude tests
