Mak Wins CADFP Award, Set to Host MU’s Dr. Pithua
The Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program (CADFP) has approved a Project Request by the College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Biosecurity (CoVAB), Makerere University for the year 2017. The project titled Strengthening Collaboration in Zoonotic Disease Research, Curriculum Development and Teaching a Course in Applied Veterinary Epidemiology and Student Advising will run for 60days from May 15th to July 24th 2017.
In this regard, Dr. Patrick Pithua, an Associate Professor of Comparative Epidemiology at College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Missouri (MU)-Colombia will be hosted by CoVAB. During his stay, a specialized Course in Applied Epidemiology will be offered in two sessions during the following periods:
Period I: 22nd May to 9th June, 2017
Period II: 3rd to 14th July, 2017
Course Aims:
Introduce students to the basic methods that underpin epidemiology
To equip students with key statistical knowledge and skills required to analyses and interpret data from common epidemiological studies
To equip students with systematic guide to the practical stages involved in the planning and conducting epidemiological studies
Target Audience: Graduate students from Science Disciplines (Veterinary, Medicine, Public Health, Environmental Health, and Statistics among others
Teaching and Learning Methods: This course will be taught using a combination of short lectures and practical/hands-on sessions.
