Welcome to the Department of Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine at Mbarara University of Science and Technology. We strive to provide excellence in teaching for both undergraduate and postgraduate students and to encourage research into the nature, cause and prevention of adult medical diseases. We provide comprehensive clinical services in adult medicine at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital complex. We are committed to ensuring the success of our learners and faculty, and to contributing to the health of the people in our community.

Currently, as a department, we are particularly strengthening services in cardiology, tuberculosis and diabetes management and are active in expanding renal and cancer services and restoring an endoscopy service. Post graduate students have the opportunity to pursue a special interest during the course, often at centres of expertise outside Uganda. We have regular teaching from world reknown experts as well as from local faculty. Advice is available on enquiry about scholarship possibilities.
