We also offer GPDP in Sanitation and Certificates in Sanitation (via online and short courses). The program emphasizes on non-sewer approach to the sanitation challenge in line with the global trends.

RATIONALE OF OUR BSc AND MSc/PhD PROGRAMMES

Our BSc programmes are designed to provide requisite knowledge, skills and competences to students undergoing training in this programme. Currently, there are several challenges affecting the Water sector. These include degradation of catchments, water pollution, poor and inadequate water supply and sanitation services, inadequate capacity, frequent droughts and floods. Climate change and the ever-increasing population also pose serious threat to the sector. There is need for trained manpower in fields of water resource management and sanitation. Our programmes, therefore, aim at sustainably developing & managing water resources, promoting sanitation and hygiene, developing non-sewered sanitation technologies and innovations among others. We provide learning experiences based on course work and research, using supervision and interaction as learning elements.

Our postgraduate degree programmes (Dipl, Cert, MSc and PhD) aim to build capacity of professionals to discover innovative and reliable ways of sustainably tackling sanitation challenges and managing natural resources – Water Resources. Our postgraduate programmes equip graduates with useful transferable skills to collect, analyse, interpret and present often diverse datasets and to use analytical tools such as numerical models that are valuable in the job market. They are also trained to ably make and participate in often complex decisions and assess risks associated with sanitation, water resources, social and environmental management. The postgraduate programmes are designed as learning experiences based on course work and research, using supervision and interaction as learning elements.
