University of Malawi Chancellor College Department of Psychology
UNIMA Chancellor College Department of Psychology; The Department of Psychology originated from the Department of Human Behaviour (Sociology, Social Anthropology, Psychology, Philosophy) in the then School of Social Science that was established in 1965. It became a fully-fledged Department of Psychology in 1978 as one of the five departments in the Faculty of Social Science at the University of Malawi’s Chancellor College in Zomba.
THE UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMME
The Psychology department has strengthened its undergraduate courses in order to increase the capacity of skilled psychologists in Malawi that are to provide psychological service in the organization and Industry in the areas of Psychological Testing, Workplace Health Promotion, Marketing, Psychometrics, Coaching and Mentoring, Gender Relations, and Employee Motivation.
SERVICES
The department offers a wide range of courses in its generic programmes but also offers a number of training workshops to NGOs, the private sector and the Government. The workshops are in areas of:
- customer service,
- leadership development,
- organisational change, and
- counselling
among others.
