University of Malawi Chancellor College Department of Theology and Religious Studies
UNIMA Chancellor College Department of Theology and Religious Studies; The department of Theology and Religious Studies has made great strides since its inception in 1976. It has since striven to be a department of excellence in higher education for sustainable development of Malawi and the region. The mission of the department is to offer education that trains high caliber academics and professionals in theological studies with various orientations so as to respond to the contemporary needs of Malawi, the region and globally.

It currently boasts four Sections, a Publications House, and an institute.

- Systematic Theology
- Religious Studies
COURSES
The department offers programmes in such diverse courses as:
- Wisdom and Poetic Literature,
- Christian Ethics, Church History,
- New Religious Movements,
- Old Testament Prophecy and Apocalyptic Literature,
- New Testament Introduction,
- Pauline Literature,
- Islamic Jurisprudence,
- Islamic Philosophy,
- Phenomenology of Religion,
- Systematic Theology, among others.
GRADUATE STUDIES
The department also offers:
- a Master of Arts in Theology,
- a PhD in Biblical Studies (old Testament Ethics)
- a PhD in Religious Studies.
