Job Summary:
NARO is seeking a highly skilled Principal Research Officer – Biochemist to lead research efforts in studying biochemical, physiological, and chemical structures and functions of plants, animals, and micro-organisms. This role involves developing industrial and agricultural products through in-depth biochemical research.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, design, and conduct research on the composition and function of biological molecules.
- Investigate the genetic, physiological, chemical, and structural composition of cells, tissues, and organisms.
- Study the control of metabolism, growth, and development in priority crops.
- Determine environmental influences on plants, animals, and micro-organisms.
- Apply scientific research principles in conducting research projects.
- Develop and test new biochemical products.
- Participate in strategic planning, including annual work plans and budget formulation.
- Secure funding through grant proposal development.
- Publish research findings and provide technical leadership to research teams.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- PhD in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Plant Physiology, or equivalent qualifications.
- At least six years of experience at the level of Senior Research Officer or equivalent in a reputable organization.
- Demonstrated research and publication track record, including at least ten articles in peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience in supervising at least three post-graduate students in the past five years.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in teams.
- Age Limit: Not more than 55 years.
