About the USAID Office of Health and HIV/AIDS (OHH): The OHH is USAID/Uganda Mission’s largest technical office. It manages a significant budget and a large number of activities focused on health and HIV/AIDS, with several technical teams including Health System Strengthening, President’s Malaria Initiative, HIV and TB, Family Health, Strategic Information, and Global Health Security.

Job Summary: The HIS Advisor plays a crucial role in the Health System Strengthening Unit. This role involves providing strategic leadership and technical expertise in health information systems within the Ugandan health system. The Advisor will ensure alignment with various strategies and plans, such as the MOH Health Information and Digital Health Strategy, USAID’s Global Health Digitization Strategy, and the USAID Uganda Country Development Cooperation Strategy 2.0.

The HIS Advisor’s responsibilities include advisory services, technical expertise in health information systems, conducting analysis, and collaborating with numerous stakeholders such as the Government of Uganda, USG agencies, private sector entities, and others. This role is vital in US foreign assistance to Uganda.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Master’s degree in public health, health informatics, information technology, or related fields.
  • At least seven years of experience in managing HIS activities, including experience in project management in resource-poor settings.
  • Experience in developing or sourcing state-of-the-art HIS for health program improvement.
  • Proven ability to work in complex environments and engage with various stakeholders.
