The South African Air Force Rank Insignia
THE AIRFORCE – RANK INSIGNIA
General’s cap badge
On the 1st of September 2002 the Air Force rank insignia changed from the insignia currently shared with the Army and SAMHS to a new system in order to bring it more in line with international forms of rank and to incorporate the new South African Coat of Arms. Subsequently the ranks of General Officers changed again in September 2003 to be more inline with the rest of the SANDF. The previous rank insignia can be viewed here.
