Mangosuthu University of Technology MUT Scholarships 2024-2025

Awards for academic excellence MUT offers Matric Aggregate Awards to first-year students who achieved level 7 on any of their grade 12 subjects with the exception of Life Orientation which is considered to be a non-curriculum subject. The award may be used to finance your first-year studies at MUT. This award is administered by the Financial Aid office. Deans’ Commendation Award With the intent to acknowledge the excellent academic performance of students, MUT’s executive introduced the Deans’ Commendation Awards. The awards are offered to MUT students who achieve an aggregate of 75% or more in their exams. The incentive is a 100% remission of tuition fees. National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) The scheme was established by the government to assist academically deserving students registered at tertiary institutions. Students who qualify for NSFAS receive loans of up to 40% which may be converted into a bursary at the end of the academic year should all courses be passed. Bursary Refers to the grant of funds that is offered as an aid to financially needy and academically deserving students. Bursaries, unlike loans, are not repayable.

CRITERIA FOR MUT SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

The qualifying criteria for MUT Scholarships are as follows

Applicants must be registered for the Bachelor of Accounting Sciences in Financial Accounting or Advanced Diploma in Accounting Sciences – CTA (98302 or 98230) in the first semester of 2024-2025.
Applicants must be South African citizens.
Applicants must be unemployed.
Applicants’ combined annual household income must be below R600 000.
Applicants must not be recipients of another Scholarship/grant scheme (including NSFAS).
Applicants’ academic performance will be considered.
The Scholarship is for the first semester only (students on new year modules curriculum are welcome to apply).

MUT MERIT SCHOLARSHIP

SCHOLARSHIP CONDITIONS

Students must have obtained an average of at least 75% and above in their previous year of study.
The Scholarship is only awarded to South African citizens registered for a formal qualification in any discipline at MUT.
The Scholarship covers tuition fees and prescribed textbooks only.
Awards will only be made if there is sufficient funding.
Students who received the Scholarship in 2019 do not need to apply. Such students must, however, meet the 75% average to be considered for the Scholarship in 2024-2025.

TRANSPORT EDUCATION TRAINING AUTHORITY SCHOLARSHIPS

The Transport Education Training Authority awards Scholarships annually for studies aligned to critical and scarce skills identified in the transport sector. Scholarship awards are categorised according to sector requirements, with due consideration of the National Skills Development Strategy III, compiled by the Department of Higher Education and Training

MUT POSTGRADUATE BUSARIES 2024-2025: MASTERS

REQUIREMENTS

The following requirements are for master’s degrees by dissertation, doctoral studies and for the experimental research Scholarship:

A completed and approved research proposal module at MUT (please note that this Scholarship does not cover the research proposal module).
A supervisor’s report for both first-time Scholarship applicants and re-applying students, which recommends financial support on the basis of quality submissions (eg research chapters submitted, data analyses).
Approval by the Master’s and Doctoral Research Scholarship Committee (MDRBC) based on academic progress, standard of work submitted, prioritisation of research fields, innovative specialisations and appropriate methodology.
