Special Requirements Which Must Be Kept In Mind
When Subject Choices Are Being Considered
In order to be admitted to Mathematics, a learner should achieve at least 50% in the Grade 9 June Mathematics examination. Ideally, the learner should also have attained this mark throughout the year.
In order to be admitted to Accounting, a learner should have achieved at least 60% for both the Accounting component of the EMS examination in June and the Third Term tests of Grade 9. Ideally, the learner should also have attained this mark in Accounting throughout that component of the EMS course. Note: Some Universities require Mathematics and NOT Mathematical Literacy as a prerequisite for a Bachelor of Commerce Degree.
In order to be admitted to Physical Sciences, a minimum of 50% must have been achieved in the Physical Sciences section of Natural Sciences in the June examination of Grade 9. Note: Learners will be required to take Mathematics and not Mathematical Literacy, due to the type of calculations that they are required to do in Physical Sciences.
In order to be admitted to Accountacy, a learner must also enrol for Mathematics.
There will be a selection test for those learners wishing to study EGD.
There will be a selection test for those learners wish to study Drama. A minimum of 50% for English is required.
Learners wishing to take IT as a subject will need to achieve well in a test to determine aptitude.
Learners are not automatically admitted to Music, Drama, or Art. They may apply, and they will be accepted on merit, according to the limited number of places available in these subjects.
Learners may study a maximum of 2 additional languages, excluding those offered in the Core Group, by special application to the school.
