Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University NMMU Scholarships 2024-2025

Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University Scholarships 2024-2025 – See Details Below:

The Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship (VCS) was introduced in 2009 to recognize the high caliber of academic excellence among Grade 12 learners in the South African schooling system, and to reward those who have excelled with a scholarship to pursue their initial undergraduate diploma or degree qualification at our University.

The Scholarship annually attracts applications from learners with diverse socio-economic backgrounds across all nine provinces and has been one of our University’s most competitive awards.

Since its inception in 2009, a selection panel has awarded 25 scholarships annually in the pursuit of academic excellence, and to date over 250 scholarships have been allocated to deserving candidates in various disciplines.

Recently, the management of the scholarship program and the university reflected on the fact that the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship has been implemented in its current format for the past 10 years, and now requires a review. The changing Higher Education landscape as well as the need to be more responsive to changes globally, has necessitated this.  Much has changed since the inception of the scholarship, including the nature of the support and development our students need to succeed.

Consequently, we will not have a new intake of Vice-Chancellor’s Scholars for first-year students in 2024-2025. Instead, we will review the scholarship and possibly refine it for 2024-2025.

Current VCS recipients are unaffected by any changes to the nature and format of the scholarship, as the current policy guidelines will apply until the completion of their studies.
