University of Cape Town UCT Postgraduate Registration 2024-2025
University of Cape Town UCT Postgraduate Registration – see details below on how to register…
Registration involves getting signatures from your supervisor or head of section/department or programme convenor, and there is a penalty for late registration, so don’t leave it until the last minute.
Registration generally takes place at the start of the academic year. For certain research-only postgraduate degrees, you may register later. The process and dates for your registration will be sent to you when you’re accepted or on admission but check for updates on your faculty or programme website.
International postgraduates (including from SADC countries) must report to the International Academic Programmes Office (IAPO) for pre-registration clearance. This includes fee clearance and presenting your study permit and health insurance information. Your registration at your faculty will only be processed once you have been cleared by IAPO.
For more details about the registration process for your programme, download the relevant faculty guide on the current students registration page or visit your faculty website.
Your student card
You will be issued with your student card during the registration process. Your student card offers you access to all UCT facilities including some buildings, laboratories and libraries. We ask you to keep your student card on you at all times while on campus.
Note: You can also use your student card to take advantage of discounts offered at a number of parks, museums and other destinations around Cape Town.
Student cards are issued and managed by UCT’s Access Control Department.
