The University of the Free State values and nurtures the relationship with our schools. This relationship is of the utmost importance for the following reasons:
- To show that we care about our schools
- To build a beneficial, trusting, and loyal relationship with each school
- To show that we are a university in the Free State for the Free State – what we are good at and what we are good for
- To provide support to our Free State schools through sponsorships, campus visits, top-achiever functions, parent evenings, and career exhibitions
- To improve the education landscape in the Free State by creating and facilitating discussion opportunities with school-management teams, learners, and parents.
- To promote values regarding sense of belonging, access to success, social justice, and inclusivity.
Sponsorships are allocated in the following categories:
- Academic events, e.g. prize-giving ceremonies
- Cultural events
- Sports events
- Community outreach
- Learner-leadership development
- Career days
