Take this medication by mouth as directed. Use the dropper that comes with the bottle to measure the correct dose.

To improve the taste, mix the dose in a full glass (8 ounces or 240 milliliters) of water, milk, formula, or juice before taking. To decrease stomach upset, take this medication after meals or with food.

Is lugol’s iodine safe to ingest?

Acute toxicity of Lugol’s solution is related to its iodine content,1 although the high potassium concentration can cause extreme irritation of the mucosal membranes.

Patients with an iodine overdose can experience metabolic acidosis, renal failure, hypotension, circulatory collapse, and death.
