The Zambian government has outlined its aspirations for the country through a number of policy documents such as the school curriculum and the Seventh National Development Plan (7NDP).  The school curriculum has reflected the subjects and career paths that learners in institutions of learning should follow. Chalimbana University has addressed their needs through the creation of the school to deliver the training programmes effectively.

The school offers a course in communication and study skills and specific language teaching at various levels in schools. This is aimed at enhancing the reading and writing culture among the students. In addition, all citizens regardless of their job need a form of language which the department provides. The department also helps students to understand and appreciate other people through their languages and histories. Language is critical for both oral and written communication in the life and practice of teachers. Teachers who learn any psychology course are capable of providing the best learning environment for pupils. Psychology provides entrepreneurial and survival skills too. It also equips learners with various skills of neuropsychology including diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.

The department of social sciences teaches empathy and this helps to foster social justice and equality among humans.  The programmes under offer are instrumental in shaping the minds of policymakers. The field helps in developing critical thinking and creativity in solving problems.

Gender studies endeavours to equip students with relevant knowledge and skills to systematically identify gaps and bridge inequalities regarding gender power relations in all spheres of human development. This is in line with vision 2030 in accelerating development without leaving anyone behind. The department plays a critical role in human development and vulnerability reduction
