The School of home Science and Technology was established in 2014. To offer degree in Food and Nutrition (Major)/ Home Management (Minor) and Clothing and Textile Science (Major)/Home Management (Minor). In 2015 the first Home Science students were enrolled. The school offer high quality entrepreneur skills and knowledge in the fields of Nutrition and Clothing and textiles to the public. The school also exempts students with a background (Diploma in Secondary teaching) of Home Economics from public colleges from the first year courses.
The school has two departments at the moment.
1. Department of Nutrition Sciences
2. Department of Clothing and Textile Science
Department of Nutrition Sciences
The department has four lecturers and it is headed by Miss Margaret Pansho (HOD). The first intake is currently in 3rd year. The department is training teachers with knowledge to work as food and nutrition/Home Management teachers. Apart from teaching, the knowledge and entrepreneur skills students square will enable them work as:
• Community nutritionists in Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs)
• Therapeutic nutrition experts in health institutions.
• And run their own businesses
Department of Clothing and Textile Sciences.
The department has a total number of three lectures (Two-part time and one full time). The first intake is currently in the first year. The school aims at training teachers with knowledge to work as fashion and fabrics teachers, designers and textile experts.
