Overall Job Function
- Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Party, the incumbent shall be responsible for providing technical expertise in the design of an innovative, implementable and cost efficient TB social and behavior change communication strategy that addresses knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) gaps in TB risk perception and treatment completion.Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Carry out a rapid assessment of the TB situation in Kenya: Desk reviews of existing evidence, qualitative focus group discussions with relevant target audience, in-depth interviews with community influencers, and journey maps with former TB patients to understand barriers and facilitators of health seeking behavior for target populations.
- Design a TB SBCC strategy while incorporating situation analysis, communication objectives, audience segmentation, program approaches (strategic approaches – mix of tools, channels, vehicles, and media which will convey and mutually reinforce messages), a work plan, and a plan for monitoring and evaluation.
- Take lead in co-creation of messages including audiovisuals, audios, social media tool kit, IEC’s in-line with the TB ARC II branding, naming and marking requirement.
- Take lead in pre testing of messages, tools and materials for different media/ target audience, with selected audience.
- Finalise the messages and materials by incorporating the suggestions and feedback from selected audience, NTLD-P and TB ARC II technical team.
- Customisation and finalisation of the TB SBCC implementation guideline.
- Compile and submit timely reports to the supervisor.
- Document lessons learnt
and challenges to inform program decisions.
- Frequent travel to specific project sites when necessary.
- Any other duty as assigned by the project.Qualification and Skills Required:
- Postgraduate degree or equivalent in behaviour and social science, communication, public health or related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in designing, implementing and evaluating behavior change communication in health projects.
- Demonstrated experience in improving health-seeking behaviours.
- Demonstrated ability to support development and implementation of impactful SBCC approaches, such as campaigns, developing and testing of materials, conducting community engagement and activation activities.
- Experience in human centred design and other user centred approaches strongly preferred.
- Experience working on USAID funded projects preferred.
- Experience working in Kenya preferred.
- Demonstrable experience in the use of new and emerging information and communication technologies to reach audiences effectively and at scale.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Kiswahili and local languages.How to Apply
