Nkubu, 16 Kilometres from Meru town, the headquarters of Meru County, literally “stole” the thunder from its big sister in as far as campus location goes. Its location at Majani Plaza befits the reputation of MKU. Majani is swahili for “tea”, a green leaf that is grown by most small scale farmers. The region is also known as a net producer of khat,a mild stimulant that has gained worldwide fame.

Mount Kenya, Africa’s second tallest mountain, from where the university gets its name sprawls from Meru to Laikipia counties. Though agriculture are the main economic mainstays of Nkubu and Meru towns, the residents have a reputation for their entrepreneurial spirit. The Ameru people are also known
