Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Salary: Negotiable based on Experience
Job Purpose: The role requires a seasoned business development professional with solid financial services business acumen, a strong business development track record, and a deep understanding of the East African investment & asset management industry that will be their responsibility to manage.
Responsibilities of the Executive Director Business Development Job
- Responsible for the overall management of all strategic and operational Marketing and Customer Relationship activities.
- Provide market feedback to the organization’s leadership regarding competitive offerings, prospect needs and generate product development ideas.
- Take ownership of the management of the sales and marketing functions of the business.
- Drive increased revenue and profit to achieve the organization’s ambitious growth.
- Working to stringent targets, adopt a professional and knowledgeable approach to each new business call.
- Planning and coordinating the implementation of business plans and the penetration of new markets
- Craft strategies for all Marketing teams, including Digital, Advertising, Communications and Creative
- Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly and annual budgets for the Marketing department
- Set, monitor and report on team goals
- Design branding, positioning and pricing strategies
- Ensure our brand message is strong and consistent across all channels and marketing efforts (like events, email campaigns, web pages and promotional material)
- Analyze consumer’s behavior and determine customer personas
- Identify opportunities to reach new market segments and expand market share
- Craft quarterly and annual hiring plans
- Monitor competition (acquisitions, pricing changes and new products and features)
- Coordinate sales and marketing efforts to boost brand awareness
- Participate in the quarterly and annual planning of organization’s objectives

Qualifications of the Executive Director Business Development Job
- Strong networking capabilities at senior level. The ideal candidate should already possess an existing Investment & Asset Management/financial industry network.
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Management, Finance, or any other relevant field
- Post graduate qualification would be an added advantage
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in business development capacity
- Extensive investment product knowledge and understanding of financial concepts with the ability to articulate a variety of investment topics ranging from fundamental asset classes to alternative investments.
- Self-driven individual with a high degree of resilience.
- Strong goal and results orientation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with cross-cultural competency.
- Have good business acumen, outstanding negotiation skills and the ability to present and influence deals at senior management level.
- A team player with the ability to manage relationships with multiple stakeholders
- Public speaking capability.
