Job Title: Managing Director
Reports to: Group Chief Executive Officer
Supervises: Business Head and Divisional Head

Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Salary: Negotiable based on Experience
Job Purpose: To drive business growth in the Country by identifying opportunities, thereby enhancing the organization’s share in the market.
Responsibilities of the Managing Director Job:
- Monitor and initiate recovery action on non-performing loans.
- Control’s expenditure both within Discretionary Limit and under approved Budget ceiling.
- Ensure in-house training of staff is undertaken as necessary.
- Facilitate communication and information within the business.
- Communicate organization’s mission and objectives; strategic plans, policies and procedures etc.
- Ensure that all lending applications are considered in the light of organization policy, liquidity position, sectoral guidelines and local knowledge.
- Monitor actual activity and performance levels against the approved budget and make recommendations to the Group Chief Executive to ensure the budget objectives are achieved
- Coach and motivate employees to effectively execute their strategic decisions to meet corporate targets
- Authorize major country expenditure in line with approved authority limits.
- Communicate and monitor the implementation of the organization’s overall strategy and detailed SBU plans nationwide.
- Develop business strategies for the country and ensure effective implementation in line with approved budget.
- Direct relationship management activities to secure and increase share of customer’s businesses within the country.
- Ensure business directives and initiatives from management are well disseminated across the country.
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements.
- Ensure leading-edge products/services are developed proactively and deployed speedily to meet the identified needs of the target customer segments.
- Identify and contribute improvement opportunities to promote safe and sound credit practices in the organization.
- Identify critical interdependencies among the sectors and forge effective organizational linkage to ensure a concerted/seamless implementation of the organization’s global business strategy
Key Performance Indicators:
- Investment Deposit achieved
- Savings Account Deposit
- Risk Asset given out
- PBT after allocated expenses
- Personal Development based on completion of trainings
- Colleague Development based on adherence to timelines for assessment exercises, internal customer survey
- Fees & Other Income
- NPL- reduction in non- performing loan
- New Account opened within period
- Cost to Income- percent target achieved
- Cost Reduction
- Revenue
Qualifications of the Managing Director Job:
- Master’s degree (MBA, MSc, MA. ML) is compulsory.
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Management, Finance, or any other relevant field.
- A related professional qualification is compulsory.
- Minimum of 15 years financial sector experience spanning credit analysis, retail banking, wholesale banking, investment banking, commercial and public sector banking.
- Knowledge of organization’s products and services.
- Basic Accounting Knowledge.
- Extensive knowledge of the organization.
- Knowledge of ICT.
- Knowledge in project management.
- Knowledge of law, conventions, customs and practices in the financial sector.
- Knowledge of Finance and Cost Management.
- Leadership / Supervisory Skills.
- Strategic Thinking.
- Coaching / counselling.
- Team building / conflict management.
- Organization & coordination.
