Job Description/Requirements
Role Purpose
Release train Engineer in financial Services to establish, develop and lead the delivery capability for multiple M-Pesa Services and Technology projects. Development of the Business Payments Agile Release Train (ART) and of essential trusted delivery partnerships and guidance for M-Pesa Africa (MPA) markets. Guiding market resources through their engagement for delivery of new services and partner integrations. Guidance of in-market resources to ensure synergies remain strong between MPA, markets, and partners. Development of Release Train performance and through continuous coaching and continuous improvement of MPA’s project delivery metrics, particularly Time to Market.
The role will drive efficiency through the 9 squads in the Business Payment (BP) area and additionally lead the newly formed International Money Transfer (IMT) squad to provide financial service products and enablers for merchants and consumers. The scope will support a full range of M-Pesa services including in-market pilots, innovations, and mature product enhancements.
Key Role Responsibilities
As an experienced professional in Agile Project Delivery you’ll Provide:
Agile Release Train and program leadership, performance in driving product features to implementation through SAFe (ambitious and competitive).
Consistently productive operation in a multinational environment with local Executive Management, showing excellent communication and coaching skills, tact, and diplomacy (one company & local roots).
Time to Market for MPA products and Services.
Release train performance – KPIs including Velocity, Committed work completion, Technical debt.
Risk value reduction and dependency management through influencing multiple- stakeholder’s performance within the ART or program.
Continued focus on Simplicity and Speed to reduce project transfer time to Operations.
Integrity and openness to build trust and be trusted across different cultures. (Rated through feedback)
Qualifications
Apply if you have:
Degree Qualification – Preferably STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
Minimum of 6 years of experience in Program Management with international suppliers and markets.
At least one Project Management Certification – PRINCE 2 Practitioner, APMP or equivalent
Agile Project Management Experience Qualification in Scrum Master/Kanban KPM1/SAFe RTE or equivalent
At least 4 years of experience in communication and relationship management to Executive level.
Minimum of 3 years experience in Project budgeting (full lifecycle).
Excellent problem analysis and resolution skills
Demonstrated team leadership experience-you will have at least 13 direct reports with 72 dotted line reports.
Technical and business understanding of mobile telecommunications, mobile payments, or similar financial system operations.
Off-shore delivery experience, with 3rd party vendors and remote working communication tools.
Knowledge of tools including Agile management applications tools Jira, Confluence.

Mobile Telco and either Mobile Payment or Financial Services experience
Service Operations Qualification – ITIL
AML Qualification – ICA Certificate in Anti Money Laundering Awareness
Regulatory industry experience
Programme Management Qualification and Experience – MSP
SAFe RTE trained
