ELECTRICAL AND CONTROL ENGINEERING
Electrical and Control Engineering (ECEN) department is one of the four departments under the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, established in January 1999. The department prides itself in producing engineers who can solve problems in control, instrumentation, automated production lines, electronics and manufacturing industries. The department has state of the art laboratories, rich in equipment for instrumentation, electric machines, control, electronics and telecommunications.
Mission
To train Electrical, Telecommunication, Instrumentation and Control Engineers to international standards through teaching and research.
Objectives
The objectives of the BSc Instrumentation and Control Engineering programme are to:
1. Prepare engineers who can plan, design and construct instrumentation and control systems.
2. Develop and inculcate the engineer with intellectual, imaginative and engineering skills so as to be able to respond and adapt to change, anticipate and initiate such a change.
3. Provide the graduate with a basis for continuing postgraduate education and self-reliance/employment skills.
