MINISTRY OF DEFENCE

ADVERTISEMENT FOR RECRUITMENT OF GENERAL SERVICE OFFICER CADETS AND SPECIALIST OFFICERS INTO THE KENYA DEFENCE FORCES

1.The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) is pleased to announce to the general public the recruitment of General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets and Specialist Officers which is scheduled to take place in the months of August, September and October .

2.CORRUPTION. Bribery and other acts of corruption are against the law. All persons presenting themselves for recruitment purposes with fake/falsified documents or caught engaging in any corrupt activity shall be arrested and prosecuted. If you accept to be conned, you will lose your money or property and go to jail; it has happened to many citizens during past recruitments. Do not waste your money and risk imprisonment; NO ONE can influence the recruitment process. Report any suspicious activities/conmen to the nearest police station or a military camp. KDF recruitment is absolutely FREE TO ALL.

3.Prospective candidates willing to join Kenya Defence Forces MUST meet the following conditions and education qualification:

a. Conditions

(1)Be Kenyan citizens with no dual citizenship.

(2)Be in possession of a valid Kenyan National Identity Card.

How To Join Kenya Defence Force

(3)Age – between 18 and 26 years old for GSO Cadets, not above 30 years for Specialist Officers and not above 39 years for Chaplains/Imams.

(4)Be physically and medically fit in accordance with the KDF standards.

(5)Have no criminal record.

(6)Minimum Height:

(a) Men

1.60m (5ft 3in).

(b) Women 1.52m (5ft)

(7)Minimum Weight:

(a) Men

54.55 Kg (120 lb).

(b) Women 50.00 Kg (110 lb).

(8)Female candidates must NOT be pregnant at the time of recruitment and during the entire duration of training.

b.Minimum Education Qualification

(1)General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets

Must hold a minimum mean grade of B (Plain) in KCSE with at least C+ (Plus) in English, Mathematics and one Science subject. The initial training period for this category will cover three (3) continuous years leading to a BSc in Military Science and Security Studies on successful completion.

(2)Specialist Officers

Must hold a minimum mean grade of B (Plain) in KCSE with at least C+ (Plus) in English, Mathematics and one science subject. Must be holder of an undergraduate degree from a recognized University/institution and be registered with statutory body where applicable. The initial training period for Specialist Officers will not be less than three months.

4.Vacancies.

a.General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets

b.Specialist Officers

(1)Medical Officers

Must be holders of at least a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery and be registered with Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (MPDB).

(2)Pharmacists

Must be holders of at least a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and be registered with Pharmacy and Poison Board (PPB).

(3)Nurses

Must be holders of at least a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and be registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).

(4)Dentists

Must be holders of at least a Bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgery and be registered with the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (MPDB).

(5)Veterinary Officers

Must be holders of a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine and be registered with the Kenya Veterinary Board (KVB).

(6)Counselling Psychologists

Must be holders of at least a Bachelor’s degree in Counselling Psychology.

(7)Clinical Psychologists

Must be holders of Masters degree in Clinical Psychology.

(8)Biomedical Engineers

Must have a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering.

(9)Physiotherapists

Must be holders of at least a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy and must be registered with the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya.

(10)Radiographers

Must have at least a Bachelor of Science degree in Radiography.

(11)Applied Mathematics

Must be holders of at least a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics.

(12)Information Technology Officers

Must be holders of at least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology/Software Engineering/System Analyst with at least two (2) years working experience in Information Technology. Those with certification in Cyber Security/ Ethical hacking/Security analysis are encouraged to Join.

(13)Telecommunication Engineers

Must be holders of at least a Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunication Engineering from a recognized University and be registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).

(14)Engineers

Must be holders of at least a Bachelor of Science degree in (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Mechatronics) Engineering and be registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).

(15)Architects

Must be holders of at least a Bachelor in Architecture degree and be registered with the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS).

(16)Journalists

Must be holders of at least a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication majoring either in print media, broadcast media or public relations with at least two (2) years working experience as a journalist.

(17)Meteorologists

Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology.

(18)Chaplains/Imams

Must be holders of at least a Bachelor’s degree in Theology/Islamic studies from recognized Institutions. Protestant Churches and Roman Catholic Chaplains must be ordained ministers and recommended by Archbishop and Episcopal Conference respectively. Imams must be recommended by the Chief Kadhi.

(19)Education Officers

Must have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Education (Maths and Physics), Bachelor of Education (Arts), Bachelor of Science/Arts degree and a post-graduate diploma in education with at least two (2) years working experience and must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

(20)Textile/Garment Technologists

Must be holders of at least a Bachelor of Technology degree in Textile Engineering and be registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).

(21)Lawyers

Must be holders of at least a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized University, be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, hold a current and valid practicing certificate with at least two (2) years working experience. Experience in litigation will be an added advantage.

(22)Instrumentation and Control

Must be holders of at least a Bachelor of Science degree in Instrumentation and Control from a recognized University.

(23)Directors of Music

Must be holders of a Bachelor’s degree in Music.

(24)Physical Training Officers

Must be holders of a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science and Physical Education.

(25)Forensic Investigators (Cyber Security)

Must be holders of at least Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science / Computer Forensic Science.

(26)Investigation Officers

Must be holders of a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Security Studies.

(27)Actuarial Officers

Must be holders of a Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science.

(28)Accounting Officers

Must be holders of a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Finance and Accounting).

(29)Geospatial Information System Programmers

Must be holders of a Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics Engineering and Geospatial Information Systems (GIS).

5.Clear photocopies of relevant academic certificates and current National Identity card (ID) must be attached to the application and be addressed to the:

    My names are Raymond Kazungu Katana, am a kenyan citizen by birth and am 23years old. I’m from Kilifi county (Mariakani). I am well physically and mentally fit .
    My prayers and aims , I would like to join in the KDF, since I was young I had a dream to be a KDF service man, I real like the work of KDF from the bottom of my heart since I was in primarily level.
    I Raymond K Katana, am ready to volunteer to my country Kenya by Defending it , in both good and bad situation. I am read to follow the rules of the KDF also to follow the law and order of my country Kenya.
