The School of Pharmacy was established in August 2016 having certified all regulatory requirements and accredited by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) in Kenya offers one degree programme- Bachelor of Pharmacy.
Bachelor of Pharmacy is a 5 year programme conducted in Trimester System. It is currently being offered in our Main Campus –a multicultural, interdisciplinary and conducive environment giving our students room for innovation while enjoying a great classroom and practical experience.
The programme at Kabarak University has been designed in that it involves case-based teaching, problem-based learning and practical implementation. This teaching design was deliberately selected to encourage acquisition of an integrated, holistic body of knowledge and skills through self-directed active learning methods.
To strengthen this programme, we have entered into partnerships with Hospitals, Community Pharmacies, Pharmaceutical Industries and Research Institutions.
The School of Pharmacy admits students with outstanding intellectual and academic competency paired with character; desire to give back to society and a strong motivation to pursue a career in the field of Pharmacy.
System of Education
Applicants must have satisfied the University’s general admission criteria of a mean grade B-(minus) in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E) with C+ and above in the following cluster subjects:
Alternative A: Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics/Physics, English/Kiswahili
Alternative B: Biological sciences, Physical Sciences, Mathematics, English/Kiswahili
OR
A Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology and KCSE mean grade of C+ (plus) and enrolled with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB).
OR
Other Diploma holders in health related programmes such as Laboratory Technology, Clinical Medicine, Radiology, Basic and/or Advanced Nursing, Public Health/Environment Health, Dental Sciences and should have graduated with at least (credit pass) from training institutions recognized by the Commission for University Education (CUE)
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
Mean grade of C+ (plus) in KCSE with an average cluster weight of 32 points in cluster subjects as shown in KCSE (8.4.4 System of Education) above. In addition, a pass of not less than 5 at IB level in each of the KCSE subjects
OR
G.C.E/A-Level system of education
A minimum of two Principal passes in Biology and Chemistry and a subsidiary pass or credit pass at ‘O’ level in physics or Mathematics.

- General paper – Pass
This program prepares students to become successful pharmacy professionals in a wealth of careers in a variety of areas including, but not limited to, healthcare management, public health, clinical settings, drugs and poisons information, industry, academia, veterinary, research, regulatory affairs & health policy
