Medical Officer Job in Malindi, Kenya – Meridian Health Group

Meridian Health Group seeks to recruit competent and qualified individuals in the following capacities:

Job vacancy: Medical Officer – Malindi

Job Summary: The main role of the medical officer is to play a critical part in the entrenchment of the quality and efficiency of the medical services at the Hospital.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient and inpatient care at the hospital.
  • Recommend admissions and referral of patients who require specialized care within the hospital, and where necessary externally.
  • Oversee operations in the laboratory, radiology, physiotherapy, counselling and nutrition departments including internal and external quality assurance to ensure accuracy and efficiency in service delivery.
  • Conduct daily ward rounds and keeping up to date on the clinical condition of all patients admitted in the hospital.
  • Update the relatives and next of kin on the condition of their patient(s), and responding to any queries or concerns they may raise.
  • Be the liaison between the relatives/NOK and the attending consultant to ensure all relevant information on patient care is communicated to both parties accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Follow up on all consultant instructions on patient care to ensure they are implemented in a timely manner.
  • Assist the nurses in all ward procedures as may be necessary.
  • Inform the attending consultants on any changes in patient condition and any outcome of investigations/procedures done.
  • Review emergency cases in the wards and lead resuscitation.
  • Prepare the consolidated rotas for the outpatient department, laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, departments.
  • Coordinate clinical activities required for the successful launch of new ventures.
  • Coordinate Morbidity and Mortality meetings.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery
  • Possess a valid practicing license
  • At least 1yr experience post internship experience in a similar position
