Job Purpose
- The job holder will be responsible for directing all aspects of the factory operations and will lead the long-term and short-term planning, organising, and overseeing all areas of factory operations including employee productivity and efficiency to make sure the operations are running smoothly, quickly, efficiently and safely in order to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
Responsibilities
- Strategic execution: Reviewing and developing factory policies, procedures and strategies.
- Operational excellence: Developing standards for production operation and ensuring compliance.
- Factory productivity: Monitoring and reviewing the production level against set targets and ensuring that set production and financial targets are achieved as planned.
- Budgeting: Preparing and controlling budgets as per approved levels.
- Quality management: Ensuring product conformity to the set quality management standards by enforcing adherence to set work procedures and practices.
- Health and Safety: Promoting a safe working environment through identifying and mitigating possible risks while ensuring compliance to environmental, health & safety measures and regulations.
- Decision making: Facilitating timely and accurate decision making on all matters relating to factory operations.
- Developing staff: Establishing a system that attract, develop, engage and manage performance of talented individuals and create an environment where employees realize their full potential and contribute to attainment of departmental and organizational goals.
- Performance management: Supervising and appraising staff under this position and identifying their development and training needs.
- Risk management: Driving a culture that emphasises commitment to internal controls, risk management and high ethical standards.
- Preparing timely and accurate reports and distributing the same to the appropriate users.
Qualifications Required
- Must be a mature Kenyan citizen
- Holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Production Engineering/Food Technology
- Possesses at least 10 years relevant experience in a manufacturing organization; with at least five years in a private tea factory managerial position
- Must have knowledge of good tea husbandry at the field level
- Must have good knowledge and understanding of tea market dynamics
- Proven track record of ability to manage operations in a manufacturing industry
