We are seeking highly competent and outstanding individuals to fill the following position:

Job Title: Project Coordinator – DREAMS

Reporting to: Technical Lead – DREAMS

Work Location: Nairobi / Kiambu

 

Purpose of position: Provides field level coordination and technical support to Local Implementing Partners (LIPs) to ensure effective and efficient implementation, monitoring and reporting of all DREAMS interventions targeted at reducing Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) vulnerability to HIV in Nairobi and Kiambu counties while ensuring compliance with donor regulations (USAID) and World Vision Kenya policies.

Major Responsibilities

Project Coordination, implementation and technical support 50%

  • Provide effective field level coordination and technical support in planning and implementation of the project ensure achievement of project goals and objectives in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Guide identification and enrolment of eligible AGYW in the DREAMS Program
  • Oversee LIP performance to ensure effective results by mentorship and making corrective adjustments based on needs
  • Work with LIPS and other program teams to ensure AGYW receive the DREAMS Core package of services as per need and are provided across different service delivery points
  • Support LIPs to conduct joint planning, monitoring, and to ensure achievement of targets as per approved work plans
  • LIPs capability to address issues relating to Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) with respect to OVC and DREAMS
  • Work with LIP staff on technical aspects of program implementation ensuring quality and responsive service delivery and HIV prevention strategies to the unique needs AGYW and to achieve the program goal of successful OVC graduation / transition into adulthood
  • Support capacity building of LIPs project staff to ensure quality reporting and utilization of project Monitoring tools

Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Reporting 30%

  • Coordinate LIPs to prepare reports per established reporting schedule, ensuring accuracy and timeliness as per donor and WVK standards –
  • Provide and disseminate appropriate DREAMS monitoring tools, to ensure their utilization and review and assist LIPs to analyze the DREAMS data to inform appropriate actions by the project
  • Coordinate and participate in monthly, quarterly and annual program reviews with LIPs and local stakeholders
  • Coordinate periodic meeting with LIPs to review project outcomes and utilization of project data to prioritize interventions and for Continuous Quality Improvement
  • Support LIPs to collect and document best practices for sharing and to improve project performance
  • Support in the development of M&E system relating to the M&E plan ensure availability of data collection and reporting tools
  • Support in the development and dissemination of all project deliverables (technical assistance, technical reports, training curricula) in accordance with WVK, USAID, PEPFAR requirements.
  • Support in the documentation of best practices and innovations for donor engagement.
  • Support LIPs to prepare timely and quality reports as per donor and WVK standards
  • Coordinate periodic monitoring visits and meetings with LIPs, MOH, Clinical Partners and Community Cadres to review project performance and utilization of project data to prioritize areas for action and improvements.
  • Support documentation of best practices and successful practices for meeting the needs of AGYW and young men in Nairobi & Kiambu counties.
  • Facilitate review of LIP performance and make adjustments based on outcomes of planning and reflections to identify successful approaches and quality gaps.

Advocacy, Engagement, Partnerships & Networking 15%

  • Work with CHMTS, SCHMT, health facilities and community partners in the respective DREAMS sub counties to ensure coordination with other programs and stakeholders for quality and comprehensive services to adolescents
  • Represent the project in meetings at county and sub county level, Adolescent technical working groups (TWGs), and other events as requested, to support forging relations with the MoH, LIPs, other stakeholders, and the community
  • Ensure that Program participants and partners are kept updated of project progress and challenges presented for support and action
  • Represent the project in county and sub county MOH and OVC technical working groups and advocacy working groups
  • Coordinate review meetings with sub county stakeholders.
  • Participate in national events and days organized at county /sub county levels ensuring organizational visibility.

Other 5%

  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor or designee from time to time
  • Attend and lead daily devotions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social and Behavioural Sciences, Health, Community Development or a related field
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive in experience 4 of which must be in implementing USG PEPFAR DREAMS, adolescent focused integrated HIV/AIDS or GBV prevention programs in Kenya
  • Excellent understating of GOK structures especially the MoH working structures in a devolved unit
  • Experience in the development of strategic and tactical plans in collaboration with stakeholders that may represent a wide range of interests and need
  • Training in community HIV/AIDS prevention and working with Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW)
  • Familiarity with PEPFAR and other international donor‐funded OVC and HIV programs In-depth understanding of donor expectations for program results, outcomes, impact, and reporting
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible worldview, and ability to work with a wide range of people from different backgrounds;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and working knowledge with different computer programs, both computer and web-based
