Maseno University Master Of Arts In Interior Design – Details:
MASTER OF ARTS IN INTERIOR DESIGN
1.0 INTRODUCTION
The Department of Design offers a Master of Arts course whereby students are given comprehensive training in all phases of interior design. The programme emphasizes the design process, technical skills development, problem-solving, and managerial skills needed to work in collaboration with the allied design professions. Special attention is given to preparation in building bridges between the academic world, the professions, and industry.
2.0. OBJECTIVES
The objectives are to:-
- a)Expand knowledge and skills in Interior Design.
- b)Promote and enhance innovation and creativity in Interior Design.
- c)Enhance an intellectual environment where meaningful research and academic growth is fostered.
- d)To develop highly qualified manpower for Universities, industries and other research institutions.

3.0. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
To be admitted to the Interior Design programme: –
3.1 Candidates must satisfy Maseno University Postgraduate Admission Requirements.
3.2 Candidates must satisfy admission requirements to the Faculty.
3.3. Candidate must have completed relevant Bachelors degree supported by a comprehensive portfolio
4.0. DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME
4.1 The duration of the programme shall normally be two academic years of four semesters and shall not exceed a period of four academic years from the time of first registration.

5.0. STRUCTURE OF THE PROGRAMME
5.1 The program shall consist of course work, examination and thesis.
5.2 The courses are offered in units where 1 unit is equivalent to 3 hours of lectures per week or 2 hours of lectures and 3 hours of practical sessions per week.
5.3 Students will take a minimum of forty five (45) Units, and a maximum of fifty eight (58) units of coursework, examinations and thesis, distributed over four semesters
5.4 The courses will be offered as follows:
First Semester: Coursework: 4 units minimum 6 units max
Second Semester: coursework: 3 units minimum 6 units max
Research Proposal 1 unit
Third Semester: Research 3 units
Fourth Semester: Research/Thesis submission 3 units
