About Machakos University Department of Fashion, Design and Marketing
The Department warmly welcomes students, parents/guardians, faculty and stakeholders. The Department started as Clothing Technology Department in 1990 offering Certificate in Clothing Technology…
and mounting a Clothing Technology Diploma in 2005. In the same year it was recognized as a centre of excellence in the Kenya for 100% pass in KNEC examinations for seven consecutive years. In 2012 the Department was renamed, Fashion Design and Marketing (FD&M) and boasts of 17 highly trained and qualified academic and non-academic staff. Further, it is well equipped with advanced industrial cutting equipment, stitching and embroidery sewing machines and spacious workshops.
The first BSc in Fashion Design and Marketing students were enrolled in 2014. Other programmes include Diploma and Certificate in Fashion Design and Marketing.The Department’s aspirations include mounting additional design academic programmes at all degree levels and be the epitome of excellence in training, research, consultancy and community service in design disciplines.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN FASHION, DESIGN AND MARKETING
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
i) KCSE Minimum Mean Grade C+ (Plus) with at least C+(Plus) in Art and Design or Home Science or any one science Subject;
OR
ii) Mean grade of C (Plain)at KCSE or equivalent with a Diploma of at least Credit Pass in Fashion Design or Clothing Technology from a Recognized Institution;
OR
iii) Mean grade of C-(Minus) at KCSE and progressed from Certificate to Diploma of at least a Credit Pass in Fashion Design or Clothing Technology from a Recognized Institution.
