Quick Steps

A. Before you start your Application

  1. Make sure you have a Valid Email Address and Phone Number ( They will be used for issuing feedback on your application status when the admission selection is complete)
  2. Access the link for Online Application and Admission Portal (http://admission.mzumbe.ac.tz/ provided through ‘ Admission’ button on Mzumbe University Official Website)

B. Registration:

  1. New Applicants – Go to “Online Admission” tab then click on “New applicant click to register”. You Must Register by Creating a User Account (You should Type a User name, A valid email address and a an easy to remember Password then Press a CREATE ACCOUNT Button). You will receive a message “Please check your email to complete the registration process.”
  2. Go to your email and activate the account you created by clicking on the link you received from the Application Portal which reads. “To activate this account, please click the following link”. You will receive a feedback message “Your Account is now activated”.
  3. Click of a Login Link here you will be redirected to the Admission Login Page “ Sign in to your Account” You will be required to enter/write ‘ your ‘ User Name’ and ‘ Password’ then click on ‘ SIGN IN’
  4. Select ‘Entry Mode’ and such as ‘Direct’ and ‘Equivalent’. Specify the Country you attended your A-Level /O-Level, the click “ SAVE AND CONTINUE”

C: APPLICATION COMPLETION STEP: This has Six simple steps.

Step 1: Accept Terms and Conditions: After reading the terms and conditions click to Select ‘I agree to the terms and conditions’ then press “SAVE AND CONTINUE” to see next window. This will take you to step 2.
Step 2: Personal details: Fill in personal details Correctly such as Date of Birth , Sex, Marital status, City/Region, District, Sponsorships, Phone Number and Postal Address. Then Click on ‘SAVE AND CONTINUE’. This will move you to step Number 3 .
Step 3: Make Payment:At this point you will receive an auto-generated ‘Payment Control Number’ that will be used for payment of your application fee. This number will be used to make payment using any of the following channel:

1.Via Mobile Network Operators (MNO):

  1. Enter to the respective USSD Menu of MNO
  2. Select 4 (Make Payments)
  3. Select 5 (Government Payments)
  4. Enter the control number xxxxxxxxxxxxx as reference number
  5. Then amount
  6. Lastly PIN (Password)

2. VIA BANK:

Visit any branch or bank agent of NMB, CRDB or TPB. With Control Number: xxxxxxxxxxxx


If you have paid using CRDB SimBanking App or Mpesa ‘Refresh your page’ or use keyboard CTRL + R to display your payment confirmation details. If you logout and paid using branch or at Fahari Huduma, login again to see your payement confirmation details. Then Click on ‘CONFIRM PAYMENT AND CONTINUE’. This will directly take you to step Number 4

Step 4: Confirm Previous Training: For direct undergraduate applicant write your ‘ Form Four Index Number’ and ‘Form Six Index Number’ correctly in the relevant boxes. Then press ’ >’ to move the numbers into the right box. Then Click on ‘SEARCH RESULTS ’. Both Form Four and Form Six results will be retrieved together with your names. Make sure you confirm if all retrieved data are correct. Then Click on ‘CONFIRM AND CONTINUE’ to move to Step Number 5.
Step 5: Select Programmes: For Bachelors, Diploma and Certificate Applicants you will choose three programmes that you would like to be considered for admission. Click of the Programme then Push/Move Forward ‘>’ or back ‘<’. They are arranged according to your preferences. Then Click on ‘SAVE AND CONTINUE’. This will take you to Step Number 6.
Step 6: Check and submit: At this stage you can review all information on your application before you click on the submit button. You are allowed to Edit all the information except the Names, Results and the Application Fee Payment.
If you are satisfied click ‘SUBMIT APPLICATION’. You have completed the Application Process. You now receive a text message through the Phone number you provided that reads “Thank you for submitting your application to Mzumbe University. You will be notified when the selection process is complete”

Mzumbe University Undergraduate Application 2024-2025

Step 1:

To apply for Undergraduate programmes, you will be required to Visit Mzumbe Online Application System available at admission.mzumbe.ac.tz

Thereafter you will click register and fill in all required details to have a direct access into Mzumbe Online Application System (OAS). If you have ever applied at Mzumbe previously, at this step you will be required to enter your username and password in order to log in into our application system.

Step 2:

At this stage our beloved applicant, you will be required to fill in your personal information as it has been directed.

Step 3:

After filling in your personal details, the next stage you will be required to pay

·application fee in order to proceed with your application to the next step.

Therefore you will click a button of payment and then you will be given a control number of which you will use it for paying a total of 10,000/= TZS as an application fee. (This figure is subject to change)

After payment is successfully done you will see a status of successful Payment of which you will be allowed to continue to the next step. Kindly note that payments are easily done through AIRTEL MONEY; TIGO PESA; M-PESA; CRDB BANK; NMB BANK.

Step 4:

At this stage (Academic Results), you will be required to attach your form four and form six results as indicated. For the equivalent applicant, you will attach your form four results. In the section of attaching form Six results, you will fill in your Award Verification Number (AVN) at the space of index number accreditated by NACTE in order to allow our system to fetch your respective Diploma results.

Steps 5:

At this stage (Apply Programme), you will be required to apply for a program of your choice as directed depending on your choices.

  • In case you are not much familiar with entry requirements for a program you wish to apply to, Mzumbe has put in place academic qualifications and requirements that give the potential applicant eligibility for the program one wishes to apply. Eligibility for our Undergraduate programmes is aligned with the Tanzania Commission for University (TCU) minimum entry requirements.

Step 6:

This is the last stage of your application process ( Review and Submit ), at this step you have been given a chance to review your filled information in each step: if there is any corrections you will be able to edit before submitting, if there will be no corrections you will submit your application package for further execution.

Non-degree programmes

Diploma in Inclusive and Special Needs Education (ISNE): A two-year course that prepares you to work confidently with learners with special needs and embraces an inclusive, learning-friendly environment. It will also prepare you to lead and implement inclusive practices within schools, communities and educational systems.

Diploma in Physical Education and Sport Science (PESS): A two-year course is for students and professionals who want to combine a passion for physical education and sport with a career as a secondary school educator.

Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE) : A two-year course is for students and professionals who want to pre-primary teachers , ECE specialists and practitioners, as well as those working in child care and those intending to working with children (social worker).

Diploma in Educational Leadership and Management (DELM): A two- year course for professionals working in educational or school settings which prepares leaders in education to work in schools, units and other relevant settings.

Diploma in Primary Education (DPE): A two-year course designed to produce teachers with an in-depth understanding of the subject matter, sound pedagogical and professional skills and ability to adapt to the ever-changing Educational needs in Zanzibar. Its focus is on quality instruction and management of primary schools with the aim of improving the competency of primary school teachers in instruction and managerial skills which is presently largely lacking in schools.

Diploma in Science with Education (Two Years): a two year course designed to prepare a student to develop sufficient mastery of subject matter and competence in two teaching subjects as well as in pedagogy. Students admitted into this programme shall select two major science subjects of their choice. This diploma prepares professional teachers who can teach at Ordinary Secondary School levels both in public and private schools. Students admitted in a two year diploma should have a background in science subjects at Advanced Secondary school education.

Diploma in Science with Education (Three Years): a three year course designed to prepare a student to develop sufficient mastery of subject matter and competence in two teaching subjects as well as in pedagogy. Students admitted into this programme starts with a one year foundational course before joining with two years diploma programmes, which equip the students with science subjects, computer and academic skills. This diploma prepares professional teachers who can teach at Ordinary Secondary School levels both in public and private schools. Students to be admitted in a three year diploma normally have a background in science subjects at ordinary secondary school education.

The programme aims to provide technical competence in animal health and production for self- employment in the livestock sector.   • Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with four (4) passes in  Biology, Chemistry, Physics/Engineering Sciences, Basic Mathematics, Agriculture Science and Geography; a pass in Biology is compulsory
  • Holders of Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) with one (1) principle pass and one (1) subsidiary pass in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Advanced Mathematics, Agriculture Science and Geography.

Degree

Bachelor of Science in Agriculture General

The Programme is intended to produce competent graduates who are able to integrate agricultural components in farming systems to identify farmers’ problem and to produce viable technical solutions in the framework of the available resources. The graduates are expected to be conversant with different types of agricultural industries, from the smallholder farmers, cooperative unions to large scale production both in the field and in /greenhouses. Moreover, the graduates are expected to master skills on marketing of agricultural products as well as planning, organization, management and administration of agricultural enterprises. Graduates are highly expected to be self-employed.

  • Admission for the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture General requires Two Principal passes (4 points) in Biology/Botany and Chemistry/Physics/ Mathematics/Science and Practice in Agriculture at A- level certificate OR Diploma with a GPA of not less than 3.0 in Agriculture or related fields and FOUR passes in relevant science subjects including biology at O-level certificate
