FH is currently operating programs in 26 countries including Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, United States of America and Japan. FH’s primary goal is to respond to human suffering and graduate communities from extreme poverty. In Uganda, FH is operational in the communities ofAdjumani, Kitgum, Lamwo, Kole, Kween, Mbale, Namutumba and Amudat Districts implementing programs in four main sectors of Education; Food Security and Livelihoods; Health/Nutrition and Disaster Risk Reduction; with the Head office located in Kampala.
Job Summary: The Nutritional Assistant will Support the management of nutrition related health cases through supporting patients, advising parents on nutrition and working with the Nutritionist to ensure improved awareness and proper management of malnutrition cases.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support admission and discharge of malnutrition cases following properly laid down standards
- Actively participate in the community outreach activities for sensitization, nutritional awareness, screening and enrolment into various programs of children < 5 years, pregnant and lactating mothers.
- Prepare and support the feeding of malnutrition patients under observation in the paediatric wards.
- Responsible for case management of malnourished patients and ensure that all routine medication is administered appropriately
- Build capacity and advise in-patients/parents/guardians on proper care and nutrition at home.
- Build the Capacity of VHT in Nutritional screening, case detection and referral.
- Carry out home visits as a follow up on discharged patients to ensure adherence to advise
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Diploma in Nutrition or related field. Added advantage for Persons with previous medical background especially in Clinical Medicine and community Health or Registered Nursing
- The ideal candidates should have at least one year extensive work experience in the field of Nutrition with clear demonstration of having worked in a recognized and very busy project implementing IMAM
- Must have motorcycle riding skills with a valid and clean permit and be willing to access communities by motorcycle
