About US:
Rakai Health Sciences Program is a collaborative Bio-medical research and service delivery organization. It strives to improve the quality of life of the local population through a combination of community based research, curative services and prevention strategies in the District of Rakai, South Western Uganda. It is based at the Uganda Virus Research Institute – Entebbe and Kalisizo in Rakai District.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide care and treatment to the RHSP population
- Place orders within the expected time frames, maintaining clear accountabilities for the prescribing and dispensing of the drugs
- Take part in the development of frame work by which standardization of care is archived in the clinic and community setting
- The RHSP clinician shall be responsible for patent diagnosis and management.
- Recording results of all clinical evaluations and keeping records of all relevant activities in the clinic
- Provide comprehensive HIV care and treatment including (EMTCT, TB, Treatment and family planning.
- Provide continuous patient counselling
- Update OPENMIRS and other related HIMS tools
- Identify and advise on the medical and logistical needs of the art clinic
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate should have a Diploma in clinical medicine/diploma in comprehensive nursing from a reputable institution.
- Possess valid registration with the relevant licensing body
- Working experience of at least 1 year in a reputable healthy organization
- Certificates in Good clinical practice and Human subjects Protection, experience conducting research and HIV care work is added advantage but not a requirement.
- Ability to ride a motor cycle with a valid driving license within the study or service areas of Rakai district.
- Willingness work and reside in Rakai district.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Fluent in Luganda the local language
- Ability to work under minimum supervision.
