About US:
Doctors with Africa CUAMM is a district health system strengthening and programme support organisation currently working in 20 districts in Uganda. CUAMM is part of an IDI (infectious Disease institute of Makerere University) led consortium going to implement a USAID funded 5-year (2020 — 2025) project – Program tor Accelerated Control of Tuberculosis in Karamoja (USAID-PACT-Karamoja). The project aims to increase TB case detection and treatment success rates through health system strengthening in the 9 districts of Karamoja. USAID PACT-Karamoja project will provide technical assistance to district health teams and communities to deliver high impact and innovative interventions that are in line with current national and global TB priorities. The program will focus on regional and district structures for the management of drug susceptible TB, drug resistant TB and TB preventive sec-woe: in the districts.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To map, assess and build capacity of community resource persons (CORPs) to implement community based TB messaging, case detection, treatment follow-up and establish functional community- facility linkage to enhance bi-directional referral and follow-up.
- Work with DHT and Community Development Office to strengthen community based structures that will create demand tor TB services strengthen client appointment and tracking systems at the supported health facilities.
- The officers will also strengthen the use of community quality improvement approaches in the referral and linkage system and other community activities.
- Participate in coordination meetings and related forums with other NGOs, CBOs implementing community actions at district level.
- With DHT and facility in charges, support planning for and implementation of integrated outreaches to selected communities.
- Together with the DHT, train and mentor health workers on Ministry of Health tools and processes for linkages and referrals and support DHOs and District biostatistician to ensure that all data on community interventions are properly and timely reported on monthly basis and the same is accurately and timely fed into District Health information System (DHlS2).
- Ensure proper documentation of work done achievements realized, lessons learnt, and best practice throughout the program implementation
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in sociology, social work and social administration, community development, community health, development studies or related courses.
- At least three years’ experience in health related community work with government institution or NGOs involved in community work
- Excellent communication skills and strong inter-personal skills, Fluency in written and spoken English and Ngakarimojong.
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team with frequent travel to the field. Have solid computer skills.
