Job Summary: The Project Officer – Governance and Social Accountability will be responsible for the successfully implementation of the Governance and Social Accountability Project Advocacy and Campaigns agenda as in line with Project and AAIU national and international strategies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan the project advocacy and campaigns agenda at the local, sub-national and national level in line with the Project objectives, CSP mission priorities, AAI strategies and global campaign processes.
- Implement and Monitor project advocacy and campaign’s agenda in line with project proposals and AAU 5th Strategy Paper
- Support research and development of alternative models for policy influencing and shared learning.
- Facilitate the documentation, innovation and packaging of advocacy and campaign results, impact and learning in line with Communication strategy and other project and AAU/I related guidelines
- Participate in strategic networks, alliances and other relevant spaces for policy advocacy, campaigns in line with project and AAU/AAI guidelines and frameworks
- Support in the identification, prioritization and planning for resource mobilization in line with the AAU/AAI Fundraising Strategy and donor policies and guidelines.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the ActionAid Project Advocacy Officer – Governance and Social Accountability job placement must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Law, Political Science, Human Rights, Development Studies from a recognized institution.
- Possession of a relevant post graduate qualification will be an added advantage
- At least four years of experience in a similar field
- Excellent inter-personal skills in working with a multi-disciplinary team
- Competent to take initiatives, Work with significant level of autonomy and able to meet tight deadlines
- Responsible, flexible, adaptable, ability to multitask
- Committed and honest in his/her work
- Good understanding and experience on and promoting gender in governance and administration
- Experience in budgeting, work plans development, participating in program development and proposal writing, projects implementation, monitoring, reporting, evaluation and program coordination.
- Capacity to take initiatives and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Clear understanding of the effect/impact of women’s economic participation on development and the ways to address those issues to enhance women’s participation in these processes.
- An understanding of the legal, social, cultural, and political context of Uganda and its relation to gender.
- Proficiency in the use of computer, office software packages.
- Able to work under pressure and deliver quality work products
