Job Summary: The Programme Officer- Gender Equality and Girls’ Empowerment will take responsibility for planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting on the interventions under the Girls as Drivers of Change (GADC) Project aimed at empowering girls to be agents of change, in championing gender equality and tackling gender-based violence (GBV). The project will empower, transform and equip girls aged 12-17 years with skills to identify and respond to lives challenges through the solutions labs and a young activist by harnessing their safety from judgement, stereotyping and violence and enabling them to realize their dreams. The job holder will work closely with the with the girl’s clubs in schools and the community lead facilitators and support the girls in the design of projects and participate in the solutions labs. The job holder may be called upon as and when necessary to other support gender-related activities in other project locations in the Karamoja Sub-region.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The candidate for the Save the Children International Programme Officer- Gender Equality and Girls’ Empowerment job placement must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate social and development field such as Social Science, Sociology, Gender/ women Studies, Development Studies, Community Development or Rural Development, Public Health, International Development.
- Two to three years of experience working on gender development programming, preferably in development contexts.
- Familiarity with key international standards for development work and the feminist principle, gender transformation.
- Experience in training and community engagement on gender transformation with demonstrated evidence
- Demonstrated knowledge of international and local policies and frameworks relating to Feminism and Gender.
