About US:
The Prisons Act, 2006 provides for the mandate and functions of a Uganda Prisons Service composed of Central and former Local Government Prisons and spells out the duties of the UPS as to protect, promote and fulfill the rights of those incarcerated.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- In-Charge of Prisons Institutions;
- Responsible for safety and security of the institution;
- Responsible for correctional training of inmates confined therein;
- Supervising and appraising subordinate staff;
- Responsible for discipline of institutional staff and inmates;
- Responsible for general accountability of arms, ammunitions, clothing and other Government stores;
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in any of the disciplines either in Arts or Sciences (Pure and Applied) from a recognized University or Institution.
- Competencies: Results Orientation; Ethics and Integrity; Interpersonal Skills; Ability to adapt to multi-cultural settings; Communication Skills; Team Building and Problem Solving skills.
- All applicants must be physically and medically fit and should not have been convicted of any criminal offence in any court of law.
- Age: 21-30 years

Applicants subsequently shortlisted for oral interviews shall be required to present certified copies and originals of the academic transcripts and certificates at the time of sitting interviews
