Job Summary: The Driver will be responsible for driving and maintaining ARC vehicles within and outside the respective field location as per the technical guidance and specifications established by the organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive staff and authorized person(s) to a required destination and back in accordance with the ARC Uganda Operations guidelines and the Uganda Road Safety Act.
- Maintain vehicles under road worthy and in good mechanical condition to reduce on the rate of tare and ware (corrosion) for an effective length of service through daily routine checks on battery, water, oil, lighting, etc.
- Keep assigned vehicle full of fuel, oil, water and other lubricants, and account to the Senior Procurement Officer for onward reporting.
- Maintain and update trip movement records (e.g. log books, fuel cards, etc.) and account for funds spent on driving operations in line with the standard accounting procedures and reporting requirements.
- Prepare periodical or where necessary instant reports to the Supervisor regarding mechanical status of the allocated vehicle.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle and the image of ARC to the public in line with the organizational requirements and the Uganda road safety guidelines.
- Ensure that motor vehicle accessories are kept in the allocated vehicle.
- Assist in identifying and carrying out minor motor vehicle repairs.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the American Refugee Committee (ARC) International – Alight Driver job must hold an Ordinary Level Education.
- A certificate in Defensive driving is added advantage.
- Five years of driving experience in a reputable organization.
- Must hold a valid driving license with class B, DL and
- Knowledge of both fluent and spoken English is essential.
