Job Summary: The Human Resources Coordinator will work closely with the Director of HR and the HR team to contribute to the implementation of the Human Resources Management Policies. The person takes specific responsibility for implementing reward and motivation policies to ensure improved staff retention. In addition, the job holder supports the recruitment and on boarding of new staff and ensures that the entire recruitment process is adhered to in accordance with the organisations policies and practices and the Ugandan labor laws. The job holder will spend 60% of their time in the field supporting field offices and humanitarian/emergency response operations.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate for the Save the Children Human Resources Coordinator job opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Humanities. Possession of a Post graduate training in Human Resource Management is an added advantage.
  • At least four years’ working experience in HR, preferably with an International NGO.
  • Broad knowledge, understanding and proficiency in the field of Human Resources Management and ability to work under minimum supervision
  • Good understanding of national legal requirements relating to HR, including labor laws and administrative law.
  • Extensive knowledge of the organizational policies, systems and procedures formulation and management.
  • Good interview, negotiation and counselling skills
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Excellent planning, coordination and reporting skills, with the ability to organize a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities.
  • Prior exposure and experience working with local partners and District Local Government in Child Rights Governance, Health, Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is an added advantage.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strategic planning abilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
  • Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
  • Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must.
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
  • Excellent time management and planning capacity.
  • Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
