About USAID RHITES-E Project:
IntraHealth International will implement the USAID RHITES-E which supports the Government of Uganda (GOU) and key stakeholders to increase availability and utilization of high quality health services in 21 districts in Eastern Uganda and 2 in Karamoja by strengthening health systems and improving the quality of, access to, and demand for health services with attention to equity and underserved populations.
Job Summary: The Driver will provide reliable, secure driving services and proper use and maintenance of office vehicles.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive staff and visitors on official duties
- Maintain vehicle in a clean and organized condition
- Oversee the organization and allocation of duties to drivers in line with the weekly transport schedule
- Regularly report any unauthorized trips and/or use of vehicle including any discrepancies noted on the vehicle log within 24hrs to the supervisor.
- Work in close consultation with the Supervisor, address non-scheduled travel needs for staff
- On a daily basis ensure vehicle log sheets are duly completed and signed off by the travelers and monthly summaries are submitted to the Logistic Officer
- Provide administration support to the Logistic officer relating to Office vehicles management
- Carry out regular inspection of all vehicles to establish that they are clean, roadworthy, secured, licensed and insured
- Coordinate the maintenance and insurance of the office vehicles
- Ensure strict adherence to the rules and regulations provided for in the Vehicle management policy manual
- Ensure that motor vehicle files are up to date and comprehensive with all the information required
- Jointly with supervisor, ensure that vehicle maintenance spreadsheet is developed and monitored regularly to provide clear records on vehicle usage whenever needed.
- Ensure fuel replenishment summary is done in a timely manner and accurate records maintained.
- Ensures that the monthly reports on vehicle mileage, fuel consumption with allocation per tracking code, repairs and maintenance are in order for submission to Logistics officer for approval.
- The incumbent also maintains and records the vehicle movements in the provided/stipulated vehicle log sheet/records on a timely basis prior and after completion of each trip, and ensures necessary reviews and approvals are made on a timely basis.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicants for the USAID RHITES-E Driver job opportunity must hold a diploma in fleet management or equivalent field.
- A minimum of three years working experience in similar field
- Possess a valid Ugandan Driving License coupled with a clean driving record
- Previous work experience with a USAID supported project will be an added advantage
- Knowledge of road routes in major districts of Uganda
- Ability to identify problems with vehicle and take appropriate action
- Training in defensive driving an added advantage.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with prioritization
