About US:
The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) is the Secretariat of the Rural Electrification Board (REB) as established by Statutory Instrument 2001 No. 75. The REB’s main function is to oversee the management of the Rural Electrification Fund (REF) and facilitate the development and implementation of the Government’s Rural Electrification Programme.
Job Summary: The Resident Engineer (Assistant Project Engineer) will represent the Agency at the project site, confirm the progress of construction of the Grid Rural Electrification Project and ensure quality while liaising with key stakeholders to ensure smooth project implementation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee field contract management, administration and coordination on behalf of the client.
- Ensure the contractor’s activities are monitored and controlled in accordance with schedule, design specifications, and contractual requirements. Supervise construction work for quality compliance Confirm supply and use of quality materials as per the contract
- Ensure adherence to construction standards and good engineering practices during installation keenly review and commend change orders and or construction, and audit poles delivered to site.
- Maintain a daily work log
- Manage and coordinate the entire value chain including suppliers, subcontractors and key stakeholders to mitigate any risks.
- Prepare test protocols, schedule and facilitate network pre-commissioning and commissioning.
- Facilitate site meetings and hand over of completed network.
- Carry out periodic defects liability inspections/audits; generate snag lists and follow-up correction of snags. Report on progress and commitment and performance of the supervision consultants
- Ensure participation of key stakeholders during implementation of the project including the local community and service providers.
- Perform any other duties as specified by the Head of PMU.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidates should at least hold a Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Possession of a diploma or certification in project management will be an added advantage.
- At least three years’ experience in power line construction.
- Possess a valid Class-B ERA installation permit will be a must.
- Previous experience in project management.
- Experience of power system commissioning and maintenance practices.
- Computer literacy skills i.e. proficiency in MS Office applications for project management and report writing.
- The applicants should be residents in these lots; Western Service Territory, Northern Service Territory, Central Service Territory and Eastern Service Territory
- Age: Below 40 years
