Job Summary: The Instructional Coach Associate will work alongside the teachers from our partner schools and communities in Kabarole out of our newly created Community Centre in Fort Portal. The Instructional Coach Associate will work with the Instructional Coach at the forefront of our professional development program, working with teachers at all levels to grow their teaching techniques in new and innovative ways by creating and implementing professional development sessions as well as visiting teacher classrooms to observe practices. The Instructional Coach Associate will both administer and develop programming for PED’s Community Center in partnership with our partner Big Spit that will work directly with students and community members. The position is based out of Fort Portal, but may require infrequent travels to PED Quarters in Kampala.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Instructional Coach Associate with the support of the Instructional Coach is in charge of facilitating our teacher training program. Program focuses include literacy instruction, numeracy instruction and assessing students to identify academic interventions.
  • Conducting ongoing relationships and observations of teachers outside of formal trainings
  • Working closely with the Instructional Coach to develop, administer and analyze student and teacher assessments.
  • Develop and administer literacy programs with the support of the Instructional Coach

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Program Director with additional program development as needed
  • Develop and implement strategies to engage target community members in center activities
  • Facilitate programming and maintain facilities at the Community Center
  • Collect data regarding client profiles, program attendance and programmatic data points as requested by Program Director

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  

  • The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in the following fields: Education Primary
  • At least two years of teaching experience is required
  • Superior knowledge in literacy instruction is required
  • Leadership experience in the educational sector required
  • Superior oral and written communication skills in English
  • Demonstrates a passion and incorporation of progressive and innovative teaching techniques
  •  Computer fluency and understanding of multiple educational technology platforms
