Lutheran World Relief is a US non-profit organization that works with local partners to provide lasting solutions to poverty, injustice and human suffering. LWF Uganda works to reduce people’s vulnerability, supporting them to realize their potential, to build on their assets, and to respond to their own problems and needs. LWF Uganda currently has five areas of operation in Pader, Kitgum, Adjumani, Katakwi, Sembabule, Kampala and Kamwenge Districts.

Job Summary:    The Project Officer Peace Building  provides key technical support to LWF partners and community actors in Kyangwali Sub Program. S/he will have direct experience of working with communities and authorities in Kyangwali. The idea candidate will have a proven track record in programs and clear enthusiasm and dedication to supporting local communities.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate for the Lutheran World Relief (LWR) Project Officer Peace Building  career opportunity should hold a University degree in development studies, sociology, political science, leadership and management or any relevant field;
  • Three years’ experience in humanitarian program management, community mobilization;
  • Experience of monitoring and evaluation and LWF procedures and project management is also an essential part of this position
  • Experience in working with refugees and local communities to promote community- based structures and institutions for self-management.;
  • Strong representation, facilitation, negotiation and coordination experience gained from working with UN organizations, national and international NGOs;
  • Proficiency in computer programming; word processing, spreadsheets etc;
  • Experience in peace building /community security projects;
  • Experience in capacity building, training and skills building;
  • Experience in capacity building, training and skills building;
  • Very enthusiastic and able to work long hours to achieve the objectives of the project
  • Ability to work in an international or multicultural environment;
