Mercy Corps has been fully registered in Uganda as an operational NGO. Currently Mercy Corps has an office in Kampala and is implementing Food Security programs which comprise of Water and Sanitation, Livelihood and Agriculture and Conflict Mitigation Management Program in North and North Eastern Uganda. We implement programs in the northern districts of Pader, Kitgum, Agago, Lamwo, Kaabong, Abim and Kotido with funding from USAID, USDA, Walmart Foundation, SDC, DFID as well as other private donations.
Job Summary: The Innovation Facilitator will manage, guide and coordinate activities at the center and supports, logistics planning, community mobilization and support in activity planning and implementation together with the partners both working at the innovation center and within Bidibidi Zone. The incumbent will also soordinate, schedule, and oversee all activities at the innovation center, plan together with partner’s different activities, create an internal and external communication plan, gather qualitative and quantitative data, opens and closes the center daily, makes sure the center is clean, take and maintain clear store records of items in the center, support in community mobilization for partner activities, support in translations during trainings and other activities. S/he will be a creative, action-oriented problem solver with strong organizational skills.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, schedule, and oversee all activities implemented by partners at the innovation center
- Takes custody of assets and maintains clear record of assets in the innovation center
- Opens and close the innovation center daily
- Create a communication and activity plans together with the innovation partners.
- Support in community mobilization and translations during trainings and other activities.
- Maintain cleanliness at the center.
- Offers support to all visitors and implementing partners
- Offers support to IT basic help desk
- Creates rules and regulations at the center and makes sure all visitors follow them
- Documentation, Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
- Tracks attendance and gathers qualitative and quantitative data
- Prepare and submit timely weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports that will be indicative of program progress during implementation. Respond to queries if and when necessary.
- Maintain proper filing system with activity reports and attendance lists.
- Collaboration/Networking
- Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps Uganda and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
- Maintain and establish relationship with partners working within the settlement.
- Any other related duties assigned

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Mercy Corps Innovation Facilitator job should hold a Diploma, social sciences, agriculture, market development, economics, Information Technology. A Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field is preferred.
- Background in humanitarian response preferred.
- Good knowledge and experience of good agricultural practices.
- Good writing, communication, organization, prioritization and negotiating skills.
- Good (English and Local language Bari, Aringa or Arabic) verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy with a full knowledge of office applications.
- Proactive, problem-solving action orientation is essential.
- Good networker and has experience in working with diverse populations
- Excellent organizing skills
- Lives in/close by innovation Centre Zone 4 and 3

- Social, outgoing and a humble leader
- Demonstrated flexibility, creativity and enthusiasm as well as a willingness to learn and to be continually adaptive within a dynamic and self-directed working environment mandatory.
- The ideal candidate will be living in the refugee settlement Bidibidi Zone 3 and 4. S/he will be an excellent communicator, have a strong sense of humor, multi-tasker, and able to work difficult and often stressful environments. S/he will be committed to the work of Mercy Corps and the objectives of this program. They will demonstrate their dedication with a strong work ethic, attention to detail and creative problem solving.
