Job Summary: The Assistant Production Manager works under the supervision of the production manager. They are responsible for planning, coordinating and controlling of manufacturing processes. The Assistant production manager also monitors production of goods or the effectiveness of services, ensure accurate amount is produced at the right quality and cost and provides administrative support to production staff.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan on the different production lines in reference to what is available in the stores by identifying the existing stock levels and project on their sustenance;
- Plan on quantities of products expected to be achieved and allocate resources as appropriate; in reference to the sales projection;
- Allocate work to the respective team leaders and supervisors so as to execute the production plans;
- On a daily basis, communicate to the team leaders which production lines need to run in order to meet the expected production quantities;
- Follow up on the availability of materials required for running the set production lines and distribute to the respective team leaders and supervisors;
- Coordinate continuous stock taking for the different products by liaising with the respective departments on availability of raw materials
- Supervise the production of all the running production line at the time to ensure that there is seamless flow;
- Offer guidance to the supervisors and the team leaders on quality of work and ensure they adhere;
- Quality check on all products produced to ensure adherence to quality and quantity
- Write reports to the Production manager on output, challenges faced, incidences experiences during all the shifts;
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Movit Products Limited (MPL) Assistant Production Manager career vacancy must hold a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
- Membership to a relevant Professional body is an added advantage
- At least three (3) years’ relevant work experience in the same role in a busy manufacturing work environment.
- Must have an in depth understanding of the Health, Safety and Environment procedures in a factory setting.
- Must have good supervisory, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work under minimum supervision.
