About USAID CHC Project:

Communication for Healthy Communities (CHC) is a five- year program implemented through a cooperative agreement between the United States Agency for International Development USAID/Uganda) and FHI 360. The project is designed to support the Government of Uganda and partners to design and implement quality health communication interventions to contribute to reduction in HIV Infections, total fertility, maternal & child mortality, malnutrition, malaria & tuberculosis. CHC works with Ministry of Health and partners to rollout a nationwide OBULAMU integrated health communication platform through: Mass media; outdoor media; social and digital media; and, inter personal communication (IPC).

Job Summary: The Sales and Distribution Manager will oversee all efforts to ensure the availability and sales of USAID socially marketed products. Reporting to the Senior Social Marketing Advisor, the Manager will supervise commercial distribution partners to ensure achievement of sales and distribution targets. The

Manager will also participate in regular data reviews to identity problem areas and formulate actions to improve sales performance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Build and maintain relationships with commercial distribution partners.
  • Collaborate with commercial distribution partners to formulate annual sales plans and strategies.
  • Facilitate monthly sales review meetings with commercial distribution partners to monitor performance and inform adjustments to ensure achievement of targets.
  • Monitor program for effectiveness, cost-efficiency, and timely achievement of deliverables at all levels.
  • Collaborate with contractors to implement retail audits to monitor product availability.
  • Conduct field visits to commercial distributors and retail outlets to monitor distribution activities.
  • Monitor weekly and monthly data to inform adjustments to sales and distribution activities.
  • Write and submit weekly updates, activity and quarterly reports for all key tasks undertaken to the Senior Advisor, Social Marketing.
  • Supervise one Supply Chain Officer and develop scopes of work and supervise consultants contracted for specific tasks related to sales and distribution activities.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicants for the USAID FHI 360 Sales and Distribution Manager jobs must hold Bachelor’s degrees in  Pharmacy
  • Five years of experience in managing sales for pharmaceutical or FMCG products
  • Familiarity with key concepts of the total market approach
  • Familiarity with USAID project regulations preferred
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good planning and organization skills
  • Computer literacy including office applications, such as MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
